October 9. 1913 - November 23, 2010 John Albert Peach died in Clearwater, FL on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the age of 97. Mr. Peach is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Elizabeth Ann Carter Peach and their four children: John E. Peach and wife Diane of Apex, North Carolina; Robert T. Peach and wife Marcella, of Andover, Minnesota; Dale Ann Peach Smith and Husband Ronald, of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Denis G. Peach and wife, Konhui, of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Debra Ann Peach in 1983. Mr. Peach was also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be remembered as a kind, loving man who was devoted to his wife, family and his country. His lifelong creed was always "to do the right thing." Mr. Peach was born in his parent's home in East Haven, Connecticut on October 9, 1913. He was one of six children born to Francis Thomas and Agnes Dale Peach. He married Elizabeth Ann Carter on December 27, 1941 and they remained in Connecticut to raise their four children. John Peach proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1941 through his honorable discharge in 1945. He shared many stories of WWII with his family. John Peach was employed as a Cable Splicer for The Southern New England Telephone Company in 1941 and he retired after 35 years in 1976. He was also a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Peach was an active member of his community. He served as a devout member of St. Vincent DePaul's Catholic Church, serving as a weekly Usher, a member of the Mens Club, The Legion of Mary and The Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the Volunteer Auxiliary of the East Haven Fire Department from 1951 to 1965. As he became more involved in his community, John also served as a Representative on the East Haven Town Board of Commissioners and he went on to become the Fire Commissioner of East Haven. After his retirement from SNETCO, Mr. Peach moved to St. Petersburg, FL with his wife to fulfill his lifelong dream to live in Florida. He continued to serve his community by becoming a member of the Volunteer Auxiliary of St. Petersburg General Hospital and helped at the local polls at every election. In 2003, The Peaches moved to Clearwater, Florida for the remainder of his life, where he volunteered at the Bay View Gardens Gift Shop and was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church. John Peach was a quiet man of great patience and tolerance. He was always known to be the "go to" man when something needed fixing or when any help was needed. He thoroughly enjoyed his family and was often the "quiet observer", watching all the family antics with a loving smile on his face. He was appreciated and loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
