I was so lucky to grow up working for Jack for 27 years straight out of high school.
Jack was my boss, friend and a second father and showed me what was important in life … enjoying what you do, who you are with and the love of your family.
He knew work balance before it was even thought of as a way to enjoy your work place … you work hard and get the work done … then you play … and every Wednesday if possible … you golf. And you take work seriously … but then you laugh whenever you can!
Christmas Eve was always a party at the Lowe's (with the train under the tree) … but most weeks in the office Friday lunch was enjoyed by the staff and after work chatting in the kitchen too. And Jack would gladly do anything he could to help anyone in need (which I was often times a recipient of).
One of my favorite memories is Jack's Harem. At that time the staff was all females and we decided to have tshirts made … including for Karen and Jeannie .. and Jack.
On Friday we wore our tshirts and gave Jack his to put on then went to Gigi's for lunch.
First the girls all walked in with Jack's Harem printed on their tshirts …. with Jack at the end saying I'm Jack.
We couldn't get away with this now … and what a shame that is as it was all innocent fun and a wonderful memory for me!
Karen and Jeannie … my thoughts and love go out to you and Charlie and Richard. May the wonderful memories of your Dad give you happy thoughts in the midst of your tears.
