John Eugene Kirkman's Obituary
John Eugene Kirkman, age 66 of Largo, FL, passed away on September 25, 2022 in his home. His passing is preceded by his beloved father, John B. Kirkman. He leaves to cherish in his memory, his mother Carolyn (Ginther) Martin and his children, Melanie (John) Lewandowski, Lisa Kirkman, Andrew John (AJ) Kirkman and Gina Dasher, along with his grandchildren Kendra Brown, Seth Lewandowski and Miley Lamm.
Siblings are Randy (Karen) Kirkman, Vicki Upchurch, Julie (Charlie) Upchurch, Scott Kirkman, and Cindy (Steve) Rossi-Hoyt, and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 27, 1955. Son of John B. Kirkman and Carolyn (Ginther) Martin. He was the eldest of their 6 children.
He graduated from Summerfield High School in 1973 and was involved in many athletics.
John joined the Air Force in October of 1974 and was stationed in Marquette, Michigan as a Senior Airmen and served as a Electronic Warfare Systems Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1977.
He married his first wife, Karen Vanhaerents on July 10, 1976. They would go on to have 2 daughters, Melanie and Lisa. They would eventually move to Pinellas County, Florida where he remained and called home.
John then married his second wife, Teresa Grunden in November of 1997 and they would go on to have their son, Andrew John (AJ).
After moving to Florida, John worked at Paradyne Corporation for many, many years. He then moved on to become a Network Support Engineer at Vology, Inc.
John was a family man and enjoyed watching his favorite sports, the Michigan Wolverines and the Tampa Bay teams, Buccaneers, Lightning and Rays.
He also enjoyed fishing and playing softball in various work leagues. He enjoyed listening to rock music and playing his guitar.
There will be a Celebration of Life on October 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow.
