John R. Foltz's Obituary
Foltz, John R., 84, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute. He was born in Hornell, NY on June 8, 1924 and came to St. Petersburg, FL from Deland, FL in 1954. He was a lawyer for 48 years retiring in 2005. During WW II he served in General Simpson's Ninth Army in Europe and during the Korean War with the 278th Infantry Regimental Combat team. Mr. Foltz graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida and Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport in 1956. John was an Eagle Scout and represented his council at the New York Worlds Fair at the Boy Scouts of America Village in 1939 ' 1940. He was a founding Trustee and attorney for the Charles W. and Odette Patterson Charitable Trust. He served on the Board of Trustees of St. Anthony's Hospital for six years, and as Chairman for two years; and Vice Chairman of the Allegheny Health Care System for four years. He also served as Exalted Ruler, State Vice President and West Central District Deputy of BPOE. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, the Elks Lodge and past member of the VFW, American Legion, LOOM Lodge, and Sertoma Club. He was a member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church. He is survived by nieces, Elaine Hallett and Eleanor Hislop, both of New York and a nephew, Gunnar Foltz, St. Petersburg.
