John "Jack" Calkins' Obituary
Calkins, John (Jack), 82, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on January 31, 2017. John was born on March 8, 1934 in Hartford, CT. He joined the Army at age 19 and was honorably discharged after serving 2 years. Later he worked as a dispatcher for the State of Connecticut Police Dept. John, along with his wife and young children, moved to Florida in 1969. In 1976 he began working for the City of St. Petersburg as a Real Estate Agent. After 20 years, he decided to retire. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and working in the yard. He also enjoyed going out to eat and dancing with his loving wife, Sarah, of 58 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Wesley, brothers Robert and Ronnie, son James and son in law Donny. He is survived by wife, Sarah, son Brian (David), daughter Cindy (AJ), daughter in law Janet (Tony), grandson Sean, granddaughter Dana (Truman), great grandchildren Damian and Vanessa, numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.
