Jessie DeRoo Van Oss' Obituary
Jessie Van Oss (née DeRoo) died in her home on May 5, 2015 in Seminole, Florida. She was 88.Jessie was born on March 4, 1927 in Paterson, N.J. to her parents, Tunis and Katie. She worked as an LPN in New Jersey where she met and married James Robert Van Oss in 1947. The Van Oss’ moved to Seminole, Florida where Jim worked as a metallurgist and Jessie worked for UpJohn Home Health care as a coordinator. She retired in 1997 and dedicated her remaining time to helping seniors in need as a Guardian, volunteering at the local elementary school while also caring for her grandchildren, as well as leading an active life as a volunteer and member of her local church. Jessie was patient and supportive with a passion for helping others. She loved books, the newspaper and crossword puzzles. Inspiring dedication and family values was her life-long goal. Jessie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dan Botbyl of Seminole, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Janice of Seminole, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Beth of Tallahassee, FL; her brother, Al DeRoo and sister Florence DeRoo of New Jersey; also ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James and her brother, Clarence. Jessie will be remembered in a memorial at 5 PM, May 9, 2015 at Seminole 1st Baptist Church, 11045 Park Blvd N, Seminole, FL 33772. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jessie’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to either Seminole Elementary School, Wee Friends Pre-K of Seminole 1st Baptist Church or the Suncoast Hospice Care.
