Jason Kyle McNary's Obituary
Jason Kyle McNary, 48, of St. Petersburg sadly passed away on January 31, 2024. Jason was born in Tampa on February 23, 1975 to his parents Charles and Barbara.
His love of language made him somewhat of a wordsmith at an early age. As a second grader, he aspired to be fluent in French even studying on his own and dreamed of spending his Junior year abroad in France. This same love extended to his love for writing, especially poetry.
Jason enjoyed the outdoors, dirt biking, boating, and fishing, and participated in many sports, earning a number of belts in karate during his high school years. As one person put it, he was just "involved in life."
Jason loved music and playing video games. Throughout his life his enthusiasm for, and his skill to excel at, video games was unparalleled with his name listed as "High Score". He was fascinated by technology and outfitted his home to work with smart tech and respond to voice commands. Surprisingly, even with his contemporary tastes, he loved antiques.
Jason was always passionate about his work and focused on his customers. His desire was for them to have an exceptional experience and he did what he could to ensure that happened or found a way to compensate for any shortcomings on the part of himself or the restaurant.
Most importantly, he was generous and giving. If someone needed help, Jason was there for them. You might find a friend or someone he had recently met sleeping on his couch. As someone who knew Jason well for a long time said: "He could have taught a class on how to be a true friend".
Perhaps one of the most endearing qualities that people who knew him best will cherish most about Jason is that despite any difficulties, he retained an "enthusiasm that most children could not equal". He knew how to have fun and kept a bit of that childlike sense of wonder that allows us to focus on the brighter side of life.
Jason is preceded in death by his father, Charles McNary. He is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Barbara and Bob Burkham; his brother Markham McNary; sister-in-law Kristin McNary; niece Quinn McNary; uncle Eric Jacobsen; cousins Blair, Shawn, and Bryan; and his beloved cat, Burn, who was his constant companion and best friend. Jason will be dearly missed and always remembered in the hearts of those who love him.
A memorial service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, February 10th at St Petersburg Presbyterian Church located at 600 83rd Ave NE, St Petersburg FL 33702.
