Janina Kurnik's Obituary
Janina Kurnik, born Janina Jarzabek, passed away peacefully on November 26th at Suncoast Hospice Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Janina was born on April 9,1931 in Zakopane, Poland where she lived until she met her husband Casey, and moved with him to Cracow, Poland.
Janina came to the United States of America in 1979 with her only son Ziggy and his family. She retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2001 after 21 years of service. After her husband passed in 2002, Janina was helping her granddaughter, Lucy, raise three great grandchildren. Janina lived in Chicago, Elk Grove Village, and Lindenhurst prior to moving to Florida in 2013.
Janina was a kind and loving family woman, with a big heart, opened to her family members and others, and will be sorely missed. Janina will be put to rest next to her husband Casey, at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, Illinois.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11AM at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church located at 1800 12th ST. N., St. Petersburg, Florida 33704.
Janina is survived by her son Zbigniew (Ziggy), daughter in law Elizabeth, two granddaughters Lucy and Nicole, and Lucy’s husband Troy, and five great grandkids Carson, Amber, Christian, Odin, and Winston.
