Janet J. Quartararo's Obituary
Janet Jeanne Quartararo (nee Yetman), born January 11, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, to Henry Augustus McLaren Yetman and Madelyn Rita Yetman (nee Alarie) peacefully entered into eternity February 29, 2020, in Largo, FL, with family by her side. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Sharyn Doerwald of South Carolina. Her son , Anthony John Quartararo III and daughter in law, Nidia, and grandchildren Sofia, Caleb, and Aaron of Pinellas Park FL. Her daughter Jessica LaSarso and son in law, Richard, and grandchildren Jackson and Madeline of Queensbury, NY. Janet is also survived be her former husband and father of her children, Anthony J. Quartararo Jr. of North Carolina.
Janet grew up on Long Island, where she became an LPN after graduating from high school. She married shortly after and started a family; her supportive nature made many moves around the country adventures for her children and instilled in them a sense of wanderlust. In her later years Janet would take turns living near her children and grandchildren.
Janet was an artist at heart; she was an award winning photographer and painter. She was immensely proud that during the last year of her life she mastered that art of miniature painting. While living in upstate NY, she was chosen to paint an Adirondack chair for the “Have a Seat in Glens Falls” charitable auction. One of her finest accomplishments was writing, illustrating and publishing her children’s book “Hooper’s Hurrah” dedicated to her grandchildren. Janet had impeccable taste, enjoyed the finer things and had a knack for interior design.
Janet was happiest spending time with her family and friends whether it be sharing a meal, going for a swim, debating about life and politics or her favorite pastime, shopping. She would agree that she “never found a doily she didn’t like”.
Janet understood that she owed her life to The Lord and was devoted to teaching her children and grandchildren about her simple Christian faith based in the Bible and the words of Jesus. She loved to be in fellowship with these friends and ministers of like faith. As her life began to sunset, she understood that a reward waited for her in eternity and she often commented that she was ready to go “home”. Janet loved to read the Psalms and sing hymns that were a comfort to her soul.
The family would like to thank her caregivers both in NY and FL for their kindness and compassion with our mom and grandma. We hope you remember her as we will as a passionate and compassionate soul who loved to laugh!
Visitation will be 2pm until 3pm followed by Funeral Services at 3pm Friday, March 6, 2020 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th Street North, St Petersburg, FL 33709.
