Mrs. Janet A. Huntley's Obituary
HUNTLEY, Janet A. A mermaid, world traveler, lover of chocolate and fine wine, Janet journeyed to heaven on Nov. 11, 2009. She was born In Brooklyn, NY (1943) and raised In Hillsdale, NJ. Janet moved to Pinellas Park, where she graduated from Dixie Hollins High School (class of '61). After graduation, Janet married Hardy Huntley and immediately started a family. In 1967 Janet and her husband opened the Wagon Wheel Flea Market, building it into one of the most successful flea markets in the United States. Janet was active in her community, serving as both volunteer and benefactor to many organizations including Sacred Heart Church, Nina Harris School, Hospice, and many others. She had a special place in her heart for Admiral Farragut Academy where a son Jacob graduated and granddaughter Lauren attends school. Janet was a member of the Blue Jacket Club and an AFA Foundation Trustee, It was her wish that she continue to help others so she established the "Janet A. Huntley Music and Arts Public Education Fund." A caring and dedicated grandmother, Janet adored her grandchildren. She attended every sporting event, recital, awards ceremony, and any other opportunity to see her grandchildren shine, not matter how late she arrived. Janet loved her children more than anything and enjoyed being actively involved In their lives, supporting and encouraging them to follow their hearts and be happy. Mom, you are our "Flower" that will never fade. Janet is survived by her husband, Hardy Huntley and their five children, Debbie, Dawn (Christopher), David (Cindy), Misty (Terrence) and Jacob; four grandchildren, Isaac, Lauren, Noah, Jaxon and family and friends too many to count.
