Dear Dave, Jana, Shannon, Andy, and all the family, there are no words to adequately express how influential Jan was in my life and the lives of Jordan and Jacob. Because of Jan and Dave taking us to Israel on several occasions, I named my daughter for the Jordan River where Jan baptized me twice. The Praise Songs tape that Jan made for my kids to listen and sing with while in the car was a priceless gift. My kids thought each song was supposed to be followed by the next one Jan sang on their tape and were surprised when other's didn't sing them "in order." We had countless hours singing along with "Aunt Ma." Jan influenced every part of my parenting and growth as a Christian. Being a part of an intimate Bible Study group with Jan, Dave, Rachel, Barb, Barb & Bill, Beth & Chris, Kevin, and me was a highlight of my life. Our 10 Brave Christian study was intended to be a 30 day commitment and lasted for 10 years! Jan prayed for my children before they were born. Her Godly influence on their lives, and mine, is immeasurable! I wish that Jordan and Jacob made a pilgrimage to The Holy Land with Jan as their leader, but sadly, that didn't happen. I would have loved for Jan to have had them pile out of the bus and march into Jerusalem singing "We're Marching Into Zion" like she loved to!
Jan was my spiritual mentor and dear friend since 1987 and my tears are those of joy for her and sadness for those that remain and suffer this tremendous earthly loss. Now that Jan has gone on to eternity with her Lord and Savior, is reunited with the saints, and heard, "well done, good and faithful servant" as Jesus welcomed her, I know she is not just in a "better place", but she is in the "best place!"
I will keep you all in my prayers for comfort, for continued blessings, and that God will keep His hand of favor and blessing upon this treasured family.
To God be the Glory for creating such a great friend as Jan McCray, our "Aunt Ma."
Love,
Sharon, Jordan, and Jacob Stevenson
