James "Ted" Theodore Cutler's Obituary
James Theodore Cutler, “Ted” as we all knew him, 53, passed away on Tuesday, October 10th, as a result of ongoing health issues. He was born August 3rd, 1970 and spent his younger years in Rockville, Maryland. Ted’s family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1978 and he lived there the remainder of his life.
Ted attended Holy Family Catholic school in St. Pete and graduated from Northeast High School in 1988. As a teenager he enjoyed boating and the outdoors. He was involved in Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout in 1986.
Ted began working at Publix when he was 16 years old. He rose through the ranks to the position of Assistant Produce Manager. Ted worked at many Publix stores including Dolphin Village, Gateway Mall, Northeast Shopping Center and lastly the downtown St. Pete store. His collection of Publix memorabilia is a testament to the pride he took in being with Publix. He made many friends along the way and retired in 2020 after 33 years.
Ted was also a season ticket holder for the Tampa Bay Bucs for many years and was thrilled to attend Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego in 2003. This was one of the highlights of his life. He displayed Bucs collectibles throughout his home and loved to tell his stories of that big day.
Ted is survived by his sister, Traci Cutler, brother, Scott Cutler, sister-in-law, Kimberly Cutler, four nieces, Sarah, Christie, Emilee and Aubree, one nephew, Spencer, two Aunts, Joyce and Linda, and dozens of cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Cutler, father, Millard Cutler, and brother, Kenneth Cutler.
A Celebration of Ted’s life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, October 15th at 1:00pm in St. Petersburg, Florida. Interment will follow at a future date at the Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, North Carolina.
