Mr. James A. Taylor's Obituary
James A. "Little Jimmy" Taylor went home to be with the Lord Monday May 13, 2013. Little Jimmy was born Wednesday April 4, 1934 in Hahira, Georgia. Jimmy was the only child of A.B. Taylor and Eva Hankins Taylor. "Little Jimmy" Taylor is best known as the pianist for the southern gospel group "The Rebels Quartet" based out of Tampa, FL. Professionally, Jimmy was pianist, arranger for the Rebels Quartet. Later became the founding member, piano player/arranger for the Singing Americans. He also traveled with his daughters in the 70's and early 80's with "The Little Jimmy Taylor Family" He also formed the group "Little Jimmy Taylor and the Premiers. In 1987 he formed Little Jimmy Taylor and the CampBells. A group that just celebrated 25 years of gospel music.
Jimmy was also a prolific songwriter. Among the many songs he wrote: Angels Will Stand When I See Him Face To Face Angels Must Have Cried Jesus, Savior Lord But by far the most famous song he wrote was "Dear Jesus, Abide With Me".
Jimmy is survived by his wife, 8 children, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
