James L "Jim" Sweeny's Obituary
Sweeny, James L. "Jim", 88, of Largo, Florida, went to a happier place Monday, July 4, 2011. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Jim and his wife Mary moved to Pinellas County in 1977 from Bethel Connecticut. He was a WWII Army veteran and received the Bronze Service Star. He owned the Sweeney Variety Store in Bethel, Ct. and later worked as the head plant operator with the Pinellas County School Board at Bauder Elementary School where he retired after 15 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion post# 273 and the Army Navy Union Garrison Post #3697. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen and son Peter. He is survived by his children Tom Sweeney of New Milford, CT, Karen Marasco of Danbury, Ct, Colleen Sweeney of Largo, Fl and Mike Sweeney of St Petersburg, Fl, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
