James Lyn Provo, 85, passed to Heaven July 12. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but lived most of his life in St. Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from SPHS, received a B.S. in Chemistry and a M.S. in Nuclear Science from Georgia Read Obituary
Thank you Suzanne for urging Jim to sign and give me a couple of the books that probably came off the shelf in the picture. I cherish those books and the memory of that day with you and Jim. It set me on a new path of discovery and I now call myself The Gravity Alchemist.
My visits with Mr. Provo and his lovely wife Suzanna were awesome! He realized how much I enjoyed science and gave me a couple of books. He even signed one of them for me at the urging of his wife. I now consider myself a scientist and there will always be a very, very, very special place in my heart for them. I am now called the Gravity Alchemist.
I met Lyn Provo when I married into the Valone family. I think fondly of him when I look at the beautiful pictures he took for our wedding. His close friendship with Charlie and Nancy Valone did not qualify as "blood relation". However, to the children and grandchildren of Charlie and Nancy he was and always will be our "Uncle Lyn".

Jim Provo - wow - he was one unique man. We were in running circles together. Jim spent many years on the board of Suncoast Runners Club and worked tirelessly as a volunteer. Uncle Lyn usually came to visit wearing a hat, a bolo tie, and various Native America jewelry. We were always excited to see where in the world he had been last. When stories were shared about his childhood antics, he never responded other than with a smile and a naughty gleam in his eye. He will be missed greatly. We pray for Susanne during this difficult time. His family and friends who have already passed on are lucky to reunite with him. We'll see you again someday, Uncle Lyn.

James Lyn Provo was my uncle and we fondly referred to him as Uncle Lyn. His life was interesting and when he came to town, he would share stories of his travels, work and also his experiences in running marathons. When he did visit us, he always came baring gifts, including some items which he passed on to us as family heirlooms. My thoughts and prayers go out to Aunt Suzanne who stood by his side for many decades. I also express love for my father who has lost his only brother. I look forward to the day when we will all be reunited.
