James "Tarzan" Galambos' Obituary
James “Tarzan” Galambos, 84, of New Brunswick, New Jersey has joined God, family, and friends in Heaven on October 29th, 2022. Born as Galambos Janos in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, James was orphaned, along with his four siblings, at an early age following their parent’s death during WWII. He spent his early years in servitude, oppression, and left to starvation.
Yet, despite these circumstances, he persevered. During the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, at the age of 17, James joined other Hungarian Freedom Fighters – fighting against communist oppression and evil. He fought for the opportunity of fulfilling a life of freedom for himself and his countrymen.
James immigrated to the United States in 1957, one of several hundreds of thousands of other refugees. He built a successful general contracting business, travelling the country building homes. Finally, finding happiness and success through opportunity and hard work, he created a small family.
Loud, boisterous, yet extremely funny, he was beloved by all, or at least most, who knew him. His passions included fishing, watching the “NJ Giants” and, of course, cooking Hungarian dishes. He is survived by his wife Draga and son James Galambos Jr.
