James F Cleveland's Obituary
Cleveland, James F. (“Honey”) 79 passed away May 22,2020.
Born in Pinellas Park, Fl. He attended schools in Tampa, Fl. Jim served in the Marine Corps from 1957 to 1967.He served during the Vietnam and Lebanon conflicts. Jim graduated from the Florida Highway Patrol academy in December 1967. He was a Crash Investigator with FHP and later promoted to Homicide Crash Investigator. Jim served all of his 30 years in Pinellas County. He was the lead investigator in the 1980 Skyway Bridge Disaster. The investigation was the largest report in the Florida Highway Patrol history since its establishment in 1939.
Jim was the first to drive across the newly French designed bridge in 1987 in a FHP cruiser.
Jim is survived by his wife Alice Tipton Cleveland.
Sons Bryan (Michelle) of Montana. David (Jennifer) of Pinellas Park, Son/Grandsons Nathaniel of Seminole, who helped care for him during the years he suffered from Alzheimer’s. Tristan, Ashton and Clayton. Granddaughter, Ava. Sisters Sandra Bryant (Tampa) and Carol McNeely(Dover).
Jim had a special fondness for his nieces and nephews. As well as his sister-in-laws, Audrey Joyce (Tipton) Growe
And Ida (Tipton) Park.
He had a distinct love of animals. Survived by pets, Muffin, Leo and Katie.
The services will be held on Saturday, June 27,2020 at St. Petersburg Vineyard Church 5000 10th Street North, St. Petersburg, Fl. 33703
Service will begin at 11:30am followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon
