J. Michael Eisbacher's Obituary
Joseph “Michael” Eisbacher, 73, passed away Sunday, October 11 with his beloved wife, Tina Koufas-Eisbacher by his side at Suncoast Hospice. Michael was born January 4, 1947 in Salem, New Jersey, lived in Richmond,Virginia and after graduating from Western Carolina University settled in Waynesville, North Carolina. He moved to Largo, Florida in the 90’s where he renewed his relationship with Tina and they were married. They had been college sweethearts and their favorite place to travel was where they originally met, in the mountains of North Carolina. He loved sports, especially the Rays and Buccaneers, but Nascar also got TV time. He was passionate about Greyhounds and spent many hours volunteering with the local Greyhound Adoption Group. He worked as a professional photographer and for many years in the auto business in sales and management, retiring from Maher Chevrolet.
Among his many talents ranging from carpentry to auto mechanics, Michael was also an accomplished award-winning photographer. His friends in N.C. are planning on continuing his legacy by having a show of his photography next year. Michael was an extremely kind man who had a wonderful sense of humor and many friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his beloved dogs, Wilson, Yahtzee and Tappy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph George Eisbacher and Alma Mae Rau Eisbacher Tenser, and his son Justin Eisbacher. He is survived by his wife Tina Koufas-Eisbacher, daughter Hayley Eisbacher Money, almost daughter Jeannie Marie Gardner, his sister Lana Marie Eisbacher Klein, nephew Steve Klein (Sidney), their 3 children and other relatives.
A memorial service with masks and social distancing is planned for Sunday, October 18, from 1 to 3pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions (GCGA) in honor and in memory of Michael. This is what Michael wanted.
