Mr. Huot Phu Chau's Obituary
Mr. Huot Phu Chau, age 83, of Pinellas Park, Florida, went to be with the Lord peacefully on October 31, 2016 in Clearwater, Florida.
Rev. Huot Chau was born of Mr. and Mrs. Bo Phu Chau. He grew up as a farmer in the beautiful countryside of South Vietnam. As a child, he witnessed the violence of World War II and decided to defend his country and its people against the forces of aggression. He joined the service and was chosen to train as a pilot at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas from 1956-58. After graduating as an officer, he married Tu Nguyen. They were married until 1986. He was an officer, a pilot and Lieutenant Colonel in the South Vietnamese Air Force during the War until 1975. Under the sponsorship of the First Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Winter Haven, Florida, he and his family immigrated to the United States.
Rev. Chau accepted the Lord Jesus Christ during the summer of 1975 in Guam and was baptized in the blue Pacific Ocean. In 1988, he accepted the Lord’s calling to become a full time pastor. He was ordained a minister with the Church of the Nazarene in 1992. He met and married Christine Huong Bui in 1988. They were married until his death. He believed strongly in the power of prayer and witnessing and was a man of faith. He and his wife started the Pinellas Vietnamese Church of the Nazarene in 1990 with the help of Dr. Ralph Mosgrove. He also took care of his grandchildren, Megan, Monica and David.
Rev. Huot Chau is survived by his wife, Christine Chau; his children, Phuong Chau Vu, Thuy Van Chau, and their mother Tu Nguyen Earp; his grandchildren, Megan Vu, Monica Vu, David Vu, Christopher Cao, Viviana Cao; his sisters Kim-Thoan Chau, Kim Hnh Chau, and his niece, Kim-Hong Tran of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His church was his life and his loving family. He was preceded in death by his sons, Hai Phu Chau and Hung Phu Chau.
The services will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th St. North, St. Petersburg, FL. The visitation will be on Saturday, November 12 from 2-3pm. The funeral service will be from 3-4pm followed by the burial ceremony. The officiant is Dr. Ralph Mosgrove. There will be a reception with refreshment from 5:30-7:30pm at the same location for fellowship afterwards.
