Helene Szabries' Obituary
Helene Szabries was born on April 27th, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pa where she
attended The Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational/Technical High School. In 1976, she moved to St. Petersburg Florida with her husband & son, both named Fred. Once settled in the Sunshine State, Helene embarked on a lifelong career in real estate.
Beginning at Terrace Park of Five Towns, she was the top sales consultant for the new condominiums being built there. She acquired her brokers license and shortly after formed Five Towns First Realty, Inc. and continued to serve the Terrace Park and surrounding communities. She was well-known and loved in the business community and her name recognition led her to change the company to Helene’s Realty, Inc, which has operated under that title to this day.
Helene was a fun loving, open and generous woman, quick with a smile and always ready to help those in need. Everyone she met felt right at home and was happy to call her friend. She spent a considerable amount of time volunteering with troubled teens and generously donated to countless charities. In her capacity as a Public Notary, she married many happy couples. She not only performed the legal marriage, but provided personal counseling and made each marriage special whether it was in chapel, on the beach or the couple’s own backyard.
Helene made a lifelong study of psychology, metaphysics and religion. Her
knowledge was the source of comfort and inspiration for everyone she met. She loved crafts, ceramics, painting and collecting art.
Whether traveling to Europe or Mexico or the corner store Helene always had a smile and a kind word for strangers. She made lifelong friends, some of 70 years or more and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Helene is survived by her son, Fred and her grandson Tyler, who is a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter Flight Engineer for the U.S. Army serving his country in Afghanistan.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, St. Petersburg with inurnment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
