Stinger, Helen Conlin
94, of St. Petersburg, passed away December 15, 2007, at Gracewood Nursing Home after a long illness. Helen was born January 26, 1913 in Hamilton, Ohio, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1999, to live with and is survived by, her niece, Patricia Barber. A brother, Raymond Conlin, Hamilton, Ohio and a spouse in Virginia, George Stinger, also survive her. Helen retired from the US Army as a Sergeant, E-6, after 20 years, 3 months, and 4 days. In her military history she served 2 tours in Europe during WWII, and was in charge of all floral arrangements for President John F. Kennedy's funeral at the Rotunda in Washington, DC. She was a homerun record holder and catcher and was inducted into the Woman's Baseball Hall of Fame. Helen was a Phys Ed Teacher at St. Stephen's Elementary school in Hamilton, Ohio where she also taught swimming at the Fenmont Recreation Center. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers in her honor to the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. A private memorial will be held for family and friends
