Helen "Jean" McLaughlin's Obituary
In loving memory of Helen “Jean” McLaughlin, also known as Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Mamacita, Granny, Mommy, who peacefully departed from this world at the age of 89, in her cherished home in Dunedin, Florida, on May 6th, 2024. Born and raised on 56 Rose Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey, Jean's journey was marked by love, devotion, and unforgettable moments.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband William “Bill,” her parents Robert and Marie Harrington, and her siblings Robert Jr., Gerald, Claire, William, Joan, Veronica, and Frank. She is survived by her sister Rose Marie, her sons Billy and Michael (alongside his wife Laurie), her daughters Jeanine, Mary (alongside her husband Gary), and Michele, as well as her grandchildren Colten, Jennifer, Courtney, Michael, Amanda, Kelli, Connor, and Aislynne, and her great-grandson Hayden.
Our beloved mother was truly one of a kind, her presence lighting up any room she entered. With her undeniable beauty and infectious personality, she had a remarkable ability to captivate the hearts of all who crossed her path. Though she humbly admitted to not inheriting her mother's baking skills, Jean's culinary skills were unmatched. Her Italian spaghetti sauce, infused with "almost" a whole bottle of red wine, and her signature Italian dinners were staple family favorites.
Jean's unwavering dedication to her family was unmatched. As a devoted stay-at-home mom and grandma, she prioritized her loved ones above all else. Jean ensured that everyone felt a sense of belonging and warmth. Her comforting presence, sage advice, and boundless love were constants in the lives of those she held dear.
Jean found relaxation and joy by the water's edge; she loved looking at the ocean almost as much as sitting in front of a slot machine. For Jean, the true richness in life was found in the time spent together, celebrating birthdays and holidays with joy and laughter with family.
Jean's love knew no bounds, her family occupying the center of her universe. Her selflessness and affection touched the lives of all who knew her. As we bid farewell to our beloved mom, taking solace in the knowledge that she has been reunited with her cherished husband, Bill. Though she may have left this world, her spirit will forever live on in the cherished memories she leaves behind.
Rest in peace, dear Jean. Your legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion will forever be a part of our lives. Until we meet again, in the embrace of eternity, know that you are deeply loved and eternally missed.
For those attending services, please wear something baby blue or turquoise. Jean would love this, as those were her favorite colors.
