Mrs. Helen M. Ciecieznski's Obituary
Helen M. Ciecieznski, 97, of Saint Petersburg passed away September 15, 2017 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center. Helen was born November 14, 1919 in Lyndhurst, NJ, the eldest of twelve children, to Walter and Genevieve Sopczak. She moved to Saint Petersburg in 1954 with her husband and three children. After the move, she worked at Sears and became Manager of the Cosmetics Department in Tyrone Square Mall. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church since before the church was built, when the congregation was meeting at Dixie Hollins High School. Helen enjoyed people and participated in many bowling leagues. She travelled extensively after her retirement, seeing much of the world, and enjoyed talking of her trips. Among her favorite destinations were Ireland, Rome, Paris, China, Singapore, Egypt, Australia, Greece and Hawaii. She loved celebrating the holidays with family and friends and decorated her home for all occasions. Helen was the Matriarch of the family and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by ten siblings; husband, Sigmund Ciecieznski; daughter, Judith Lingl; and son, Lennard Ciecieznski.
She is survived by her son, Robert Ciecieznski and his wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Annette Phillips, William Phillips and Natalie Ciecieznski; brother, Joseph Sopczak; and countless nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709, on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Family will receive friends from 10-11 am with funeral service at 11am to be followed by a ceremony at the cemetery.
