Heather Lynn Quackenbush's Obituary
Heather Lynn Quackenbush, age 43, of St. Petersburg, Florida, unexpectedly passed away on January 12, 2024, at home. Heather was born on June 16, 1980, in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Sharon and Arnold Hill. She was a proud and doting mother to her two children, Sarah (17) and Billy (11), and a loving wife to her husband, Lyman Quackenbush.
Heather had a vibrant personality and diverse interests. She sang in chorus throughout her schooling and performed as a Gondolier at Northeast High School. She had a passion for writing and was working on a novel with her sister while also indulging in poetry. One of her favorite pastimes was Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights, where she would immerse herself in writing and deciphering the riddles and stories of the characters. This annual event allowed her to forge lasting friendships.
Heather had a deep connection with water and was an exceptional swimmer. She swam at an Olympic prospect level and in her youth dedicated time to teaching different strokes at the YMCA. Her love for the open water led her to become a certified NAUI SCUBA Diver at the young age of 16, enabling her to explore the wonders of the sea and pursue her dream of becoming a marine biologist.
Heather will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Lyman Quackenbush, her children Sarah and Billy, her parents Sharon and Arnold Hill, her sister Mindy Hill-Lovering, brother-in-law Jeff, her mother-in-law Mary Ellen Curry, her father-in-law Robert Quackenbush, her sister-in-law Cyndi Rogers, and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Irene Rice, who passed away in 2018.
Heather had a successful career, beginning in banking where she worked for many years before transitioning to the front end at Target. Her coworkers often sought her guidance and valued her expertise.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Heather's life will be held at 12pm on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 and memorial service at 1pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
