Greta Arutyunyan's Obituary
Greta Arutyunyan, 82, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born on February 10, 1940, in Azerbaijan, Baku. She is the fourth of seven children who took charge in raising her younger siblings and was a second mother to many of her nephews. She was a successful construction engineer for over twenty years in Baku, and a survivor of the ethnic cleansing campaign against the Armenian population in 1988, which resulted in an abrupt halt in her life in Baku, and immigration to the United States with her two daughters and granddaughter. She is a devout Christian and a member of the St. Hagop Armenian Church in St. Petersburg, FL. She is survived by her two daughters, one son-in-law, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews who will always remember her as a loving “Mama-Greta.”
Visitation will take place Wednesday, September 21, from 9:30 am-10:30 am, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, the Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am at St. Hagop Armenian Church, with burial to follow at Royal Palm Cemetery South.
