Grace P. Quinn's Obituary
Grace Hogan Quinn 92, was born in Hoboken, NJ to George Hogan and Margaret Hackett
Hogan. She attended Saint Michaels High School in Jersey City, NJ and graduated with her
future husband Ed. She commuted to NYC where she worked for the phone company. She
married her high school sweetheart, Edward J Quinn Jr. (1927-1984), after his return from
a tour of duty in the Navy Seebees in the South Pacific during WWII. They settled in
Ridgewood, NJ and raised four children before retiring to Saint Petersburg Florida in
1974.
Grace was a devoted member of and eucharistic minister at Most Holy Name of Jesus
Catholic Church in Gulfport. She volunteered for church events as well as local charities
and public events. She enjoyed many an afternoon playing bridge with friends, going to
the beach, watching for dolphins, enjoying an occasional glass of white wine and enjoying
all the things that were part of her slice of paradise in Florida. Grace was an avid
Tampa Bay Rays fan and watched all their games. She also liked to watch tennis and
cheered on her favorites. Grace was active in planning events for her condo building
particularly the Saint Patrick’s luncheon at O’Maddy’s. Grace enjoyed bowling and
morning water aerobics with friends for many years. Grace loved to travel to faraway
places and instilled in her children a love of travel.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, & great-grandmother. She has
a large extended family and circles of friends. She is survived by her son Ed (Lenda) of
Overgaard, AZ, and daughters Barbara (Curt) Eck of Seminole, Nancy (Roy) Quinn-Bookbinder
and Maureen York, both of St. Petersburg, grand children Kristin (Dustin) Buchanan and
Mercedes (Tim) Cimino, and great grandchildren Kole and Gage Buchanan and Atlee Ellis.
Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband Ed, her parents, her brother George and
her grandson Mark in 1999. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice or
the charity of your choice.
