Mr. Gordon H. Hill's Obituary
Hill, Gordon H. Sr., 90, of St.
Petersburg passed away peacefully Friday Aug. 29, 2014. Born in Fellowship, FL on Jan. 13, 1924, he lived a life of love and service. After moving to St. Pete in 1941 he joined the Marines where he fought at Iwo Jima. Upon his return he became a St. Pete police officer serving proudly for 20 years. He then worked for Maas Brothers in security for 7 years. He continued his service as a 32 degree Mason, both Scottish Rite and Selma Grotto. He was active in his community, early as a boxing coach with PAL and later as a member of the Over the Hill Gang and the St. Petersburg Retired Police Officers Assoc. He and his wife loved to dance and travel as members of the Left Allamanders and the Limonaders. He was predeceased by 5 brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Barbara, their sons, Gordon Jr. & Sam (Nikki). A Sister, Mary Lee Johnson, Grandchildren, Ginger, James, Jessie, Colette, Daryl, Samantha & Corbin and many great grandchildren. Services will be Sat. Sept.6 at 2:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at 1. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to Suncoast Hospice, with a special thank you to the Silver Team.
