Gloria J Howard's Obituary
Gloria Jean Howard, a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Gloria was born in Detroit, MI on March 30, 1931 and resided in Allen Park, MI with her parents Edward and Esther Bylund and sisters Helen and Geraldine until her marriage to Donald Howard on May 20, 1955.
Gloria was a wonderful and caring wife and mother of two boys Thomas and Keith and provided a God-filled and loving home for her family as the boys grew up. After the children were raised, Gloria decided to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse by completing a License Practical Nurse program at Jackson Community College. She worked at hospitals in Michigan and Florida as a nurse and was very happy in helping and caring for others.
She is survived by Donald Howard, her husband of 63 years; her son Thomas (Jerry) Howard; her son Keith (Annette) Howard; granddaughter Andrea Howard; and grandsons Zachary and Connor.
Gloria will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and especially a warm and cherished friend to all she encountered throughout her day. She was an avid artist and loved to paint portraits and landscapes of all the beautiful places that her and Don saw during their travels. Don and Gloria spent their married years in Brooklyn, MI, St. Petersburg, FL and more recently in Greely, CO. She loved to sew and bake in her quiet time and spend her spare hours researching her family and arranging the pictures from her life. She loved her family immensely and her Lord above all. We will miss her deeply and look forward to seeing her once again. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Irving Park Baptist Church, 5001 71st St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
