Giau Ngoc Chau's Obituary
Giau Ngoc Chau, age 55, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 after a long and difficult fight with lung cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bạc Liêu, Vietnam, Giau lived a life filled with resilience, kindness, and unconditional love.
The youngest in her family, Giau grew up in poverty and was unable to attend school because her family could not afford it. Despite being illiterate, she possessed deep wisdom and strength that carried her through every hardship. After losing her father at a young age, she helped care for her blind mother by selling food on the streets which was an early glimpse of the selflessness that would define her entire life.
As an adult, Giau met my father and they fell in love and she immigrated to the United States, where she built a quiet but beautiful life centered around the people she loved most — her husband, her daughters Connie and Lan, and her son Luong. She didn’t have many friends, but she didn’t need to; her world was her family, and they were everything to her.
Giau was a woman of simple joys and warm routines. She adored caramel frappuccinos, loved a frozen piña colada, and often spent peaceful moments washing dishes while watching Facebook reels. She loved to watch korean dramas dubbed in Vietnamese and loved horror movies and loved watching mukbangs. She found happiness in these small, everyday comforts and in caring for the people she loved.
Though she never worked outside the home, her role as a homemaker was the heart of her family’s life. She made sure every meal was ready when her husband and daughter came home, that coffee was brewed, laundry folded, trash taken out, and groceries stocked each week. Every small act was done with love, and she kept her household running with quiet dedication.
She also loved to sing — a dream she carried since childhood, when she once hoped to become a singer. Her voice, full of warmth and emotion, filled the home with life and laughter. She loved singing me to sleep when I was a baby, but her singing never actually ever put me to sleep.
Giau will forever be remembered for her compassion, humor, and unwavering love. Her bánh xèo and bún riêu were famous among those who knew her — not just for their flavor, but for the care she put into them. Her family will never forget the image of her cooking, surrounded by the smells of home and love.
She is survived by her beloved daughters Connie and Lan, son Luong, her devoted husband Liem, and her close family, who will carry her love and memory in their hearts forever.
Her love, strength, and gentle spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
