Mrs. Geraldine "Jerri" Nancy Meana's Obituary
Meana, Geraldine "Jerri" Nancy Yates, 75, St. Petersburg, FL passed on May 27, 2012, at home under hospice care. Jerri passed into the Lord's hands as she lived her life, full of grace and dignity, an inspiration to all. She was born in St. Petersburg on August 23, 1936, at Mound Park Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Loren Yates, Sr. and Nettie Paulsen Yates; her husband of 52 years, Alfred Meana, and a son, Mark Meana, who died of a heart defect at the age of 4 months. She is survived by her brother, Loren (Buddy) Yates, Jr. (Laverne); her children, Alan, Beverly Jackson Garnett (Stan), Mitchell (Tanya), Gregory (Renee); six Grandchildren, Christie and Jack Jackson, Dusten, Jessica, Merina and D'Mitri Meana; one Great-Grandchild, Jorja and several nieces and nephews. In 1968, Jerri was crowned the Beta Sigma Phi Queen, with her children as her crown bearer and pages. After following her husband to various military assignments, she finally settled back in her native St. Petersburg in 1969. Along with her husband, Al Meana, they founded SOS Office Systems in 1973, where she was an integral part of the business, until it was sold in 1996. She loved crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crochet and most of all, being with her family. She was loved by all who knew her; the Lord returned an Angel to Heaven when she passed. A private ceremony will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. In honor of her memory please be kind to one another and enjoy life. Any donations should be made to Suncoast Hospice of Florida.
