Gerald T Thompson's Obituary
Gerald Thomas Thompson 83, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully at Alhambra long term care facility on Thursday June 18, 2020 in St. Petersburg FL. Gerald was under the care of hospice and had been in declining health for serval months. He was suffering from dementia and COPD.
Gerald was born in Louisville Kentucky on February 19, 1936. He attended and graduated from Flaget high school. Gerald entered the Air Force in 1959 and served for four years. He spent time stationed in Japan during his service
Gerald enjoyed playing golf, and gardening. He loved watching Florida gator football and watching the triple crown horse racing series, kicked off by the Kentucky derby. His favorite horse was Secretariat. Gerald also enjoyed spending time with his family including his beloved grandkids.
Gerald retired from All Children’s Hospital in 2010, after many years of dedicated service.
Gerald was happily married to Mary Bramer Thompson for 33 years.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife Mary Bramer Thompson and his four stepsons and their wife’s, John and Lisa Bramer, Ronald and Ellen Bramer, David and Marcella Bramer, and Daniel Bramer. Gerald was also survived by his sister Joann Morretti and her husband Ron.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Thompson, and his two brothers, Donald Thompson and Richard Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral home 5750 49th street North, St. Petersburg, FL, 33709 on June 26, 2020. Viewing will be held from 2-4pm with a memorial service at 4pm.
Gerald will be laid to rest in Louisville, Kentucky at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, 40216, on Friday July 3rd at 11am.
