George John Smith's Obituary
George John Smith, 62, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was born May 10, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late George Staats Smith and Eunice Kinsing Smith.
George graduated in 1978 from Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. In his younger years he worked as a lifeguard at North Shore Pool. He later worked for the City of St. Petersburg Water Resource Department and worked for NAPA Auto Parts.
George was a member of Boy Scouts of America, reaching the distinguished level of Eagle Scout. He attended Church of Christ, Northside, where he served as a youth mentor.
George will be lovingly remembered by many family and friends. He is survived by his sisters Janice Smith, Frances (Jeff) Goldberg and Laura (C.J.) Zalay, five nieces Jessica, Sherri (Jeremy), Kimberly, Marissa, and Kaila, two great-nephews Bryson and Dalton, and three great-nieces Saidee, Adelyn, and Dakota.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 13th, at 1:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, 4001 74th St. N., St Petersburg, Florida 33709, 727-343-3321. Inurnment will take place privately at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
