Dr. George R. Rieth MD's Obituary
Dr. George R. Rieth 90, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away February 10, 2016.
George was born February 6, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to Raymond Rieth and Marjorie Howe Militzer. He served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge.
George married his wife, Mary Baynard Baxter on February 1, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his medical training in New Orleans and moved to Florida in 1959. He established a medical practice in orthopedics in St. Petersburg with Dr. James L. West and continued to work actively until 2005. George was named the Easter Seal Drive chairman in 1972.
George enjoyed fishing, boating, classical music, singing in his church choir, and bible study. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Mary (Peter) Jermann, Margaret Bush, and Martha (David) Hodierne, sons George Rieth, Michael (Karyn) Rieth, and Paul (Elena) Rieth, sisters Susan Shaddy and Mary Gray, and eleven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park, St. Petersburg, Florida on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charles Bonnet Syndrome Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
