Reading, Gary Mace's Obituary
Gary was born in Cleveland Ohio to George and Loretta Reading. He lived in Ohio, California, and Florida, changing school a lot during that time. While playing on the playground in California he ran into a tree not only had a concussion but a split head. When he moved to Florida for good he attended junior college and wanted to be an artist for Disney. He was a very good artist and excelled with cartoons and caricatures. He developed a love for cats and fed and helped take care of many cats throughout the neighborhood. He even adopted many of them over the years.
Gary also loved the Beatles band and many bands from that era, and collected a lot of memorabilia and albums. He loved concerts as well and went to many in person, especially rock like Grand Funk Railroad. He liked to travel early in life and visited New York and was on the Letterman show there.
Gary worked for Pinellas County School for many years as a graphic artist. He made many friends there and these friendships continued throughout his life. Gary was an avid gun collector, and especially liked older guns. He loved to go to the range and shoot his guns with friends and family. In recent years he did a lot with his nephews, including going to the range. He also loved to go one of his favorite pizza places with family to hang out for some good food, and have good conversation.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Loretta Reading. He is survived by his sister Georgine and nephews Derek, Daniel, and Dillon and a niece Deirdre.
A small viewing and service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5750 49th St N. Saint Petersburg, Florida 33709 at 1 PM on Sunday November 23rd, with a Celebration of his life starting 2 PM.
