Ms. Gail E Schroeder's Obituary
Schroeder, Gail E. - 55 of St. Petersburg, FL passed away Sunday June 16th 2013. She was born in Washington D.C. on December 2, 1957 to USA Army warrant officer Clarence and Rachael Schroeder. She moved to St. Petersburg with her family upon her father's retirement from the army. Gail was a graduate of Northeast High School and was employed by her father for several years in the rare coin business. Her work history included The Johnson Mathy Precious Metals Co. where she trained and worked as an assayer of gold and silver until the firm moved out of the area; she also worked at a jewelry manufacturing company as an assayer. For ten years, she worked at The Sirata Beach Resort as manager of their miniature golf course and then moved on site to other positions within the hotel. In addition, she worked for Unimed Corp. Gail loved animals, dogs when she lived in various apartments, and cats and dogs when she purchased her home. She recently found a baby kitten in a box outside a store that was barely two weeks old. She took it home and nursed it back to health using a milk-filled syringe. The kitten is now ready for adoption. Gail was preceded in death by her mother Rachael, step-father Ian Etherington, three brothers - David, Richard, Ronald and sister Brenda Schroeder. She is survived by her father Major Clarence H. Schroeder, USA Ret., step-mother Catherine, sister Jeanette Schroeder, and step-sisters - Lori Chapin, Kim Vandenworm, and Lisa Etherington.
Services will be held on Wed June 19th at 11am at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th St N. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations in Gail's name to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary or Friends of Strays.
