Frederick "Freddie" Fischer's Obituary
Frederick "Freddie" Joseph Fischer, 86, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Seminole, Florida. He was born on August 20, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Walter and Anne Fischer.
Freddie was married to the love of his life, Marilyn Ann Fischer (née Freiter), for 65 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising three children: Jeff Fischer, Marcia Fischer Caskey and her spouse Lewis, and Julie Fischer Kisel and her spouse Paul. He was a proud grandfather to Michael Maldonaldo and his spouse Matt Graham, Abby Fischer Castle and her spouse Brian, Clare Fischer Riley and her spouse Matt, Adam Maldonaldo, and Tyler Spruill. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Nora Riley. Fred is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his half-siblings Ernest Percun, Richard Fischer, Walter “Cookie” Fischer and Alice Specht, along with his beloved dog Snowy, who faithfully greeted him after work each day.
Freddie dedicated many years of service as a firefighter with the Cleveland Firefighters Local 93. He retired at the age of 48 and they were snowbirds for 27 years between Catawba Island, OH and Spring Hill, FL. Freddie remained active through various endeavors, including owning and operating a roofing company and a lawn service business He cherished time spent at their cottage on Lake Erie, where he enjoyed fishing for perch and walleye. He also loved visiting Cedar Point amusement park for fireman picnics filled with good food and cold kegs of beer. A devoted fan of country music, The Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians Freddie found joy in simple pleasures and the camaraderie of friends and family.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, March 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, officiated by Father Michael Perry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
