Frederick A Balcom Jr's Obituary
Frederick A. Balcom, Jr., age 88, of Pinellas Park, Florida passed away on February 10, 2019 at home. Mr. Balcom was born on October 28, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to his parents, Frederick A. Balcom, Sr. and Mary Picot Balcom. He was the youngest of four. His three older sisters were Reta Sullivan, Dorothy (Dottie) Kimmel And Winifred (Winnie) Liddle. With his passing, the family is rejoicing together again.
Mr. Balcom grew up in West Orange, New Jersey. He graduated from West Orange High and joined the Air Force where he served in recruitment and traveled. He is also a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He later worked for Pinellas Park Police Department, was self-employed working with refrigeration and air conditioning with travel trailers and the State of Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Imogene Balcom, his daughter Lesa Regan, his daughter in law, Theresa Balcom, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother in law, Harold Johnson and his wife Brenda and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Scott A Balcom.
Mr. Balcom had interests in music. He sang in choir for many years. He loved to garden, work puzzles and play card games with friends. He was known for his smile and humor.
Visitation will be 9am – 10am followed by funeral service at 10am Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. Pastor Branson Rogers, officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, friends and family will process to the Garden of Honor within Memorial Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with Air Force military honors.
