Rev. Frank B Poling's Obituary
Rev. Frank B. Poling, Sr., 89 of St. Petersburg, Florida and the beloved husband of his “one and only” wife, Rose M. Poling, for 70 plus years, rested his life on this earth Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Bay Pines Veteran’s Memorial Hospital under hospice care. He was born November 11, 1927 in Haywood, West Virginia and attended Lumberport High School. He joined the Merchant Marines and then went on to enlist in the U. S. Navy to serve his country from 1944 – 1948.
He married Rose M. Long on August 8, 1946 in Winchester, VA and to this union was born 5 children, followed by 10 grand-children and 19 great grand-children. They moved to Akron, Ohio in 1952.
Rev. Poling entered the ministry in 1957 and became a licensed minister of the United Pentecostal Church International and also Pastor of the First Apostolic Church in Akron, Ohio, in 1959.
In 1969, after many months of labor, a new church building was built and upon completion, the congregation moved to Tallmadge, Ohio, founding and establishing the church in that city. He pastored and served this congregation for 30 years and retired from Pastorate in 1995.
During his years of Pastoring, he traveled to the country of Thailand as a Partner in Missions making approximately 30 trips to minister to the Thai people. While in Thailand, he would travel with the Superintendent, Rev. Chaiyong Wattanchant, and visit all of the churches throughout the country of Thailand.
During his lifetime, he was able to travel on missions trips around the world including, the Philippines, India, Central and South America, Greece, Holland, England, Ethiopia, and on three separate occasions he visited the nation of Israel.
In 1995, he and his wife moved to St. Petersburg, Florida and he lived there for the remainder of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Helen Poling; sister, Irene Poling; sister, Barb Riley; brother, Calvin Poling; and grand-daughter, Jennifer Poling. He is survived and held in the fondest memory by his precious and loving wife, Rose M. Poling; son, John Poling; son, Frank B. Poling, Jr.; daughter, Nancy Haines and son-in-law, Nadab Haines; daughter, Deborah Standley; and daughter, Susan Bauer. He is loved, honored and respected by 9 grandchildren, Stephen Sholar, Nathan Standley, Jerolyn Standley, Monique Haines, Brittany Garber, Andrew Bauer, Anthony Bauer, Alexander Bauer and Mishelle Poling. He will also be fondly remembered by 19 great grand-children, Justin Sholar, Jason Sholar, Madelyn Standley, Carly Standley, Lyle Standley, Lucas Standley, Lanse Campos, Landon Campos, Tatiana McGinty, Christian Crumby, Ava Marie Green, Preston Garber, Charlotte Garber, Penelope Garber,
Colette Garber, Brynlee Biggs, Makenna Bauer, Maximus Bauer and Janie Bauer; the congregation of the First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge; the congregation of The Life Center of St. Petersburg, Florida and an unlimited family of precious saints from all around the world.
