Francis Lawrence Kerwood's Obituary
Francis L. Kerwood, 96 of Pinellas Park, FL, passed from this life 11/19/19 at home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a resident of Pinellas Park, Florida for the past 37 years. Francis was a truck driver for many years and retired from the Teamsters Local 107 in 1982. He was a grounds keeper for Dixie Hollins High School and a van driver for PARC until he fully retired. Once retired he and his late wife Irene went on a trip driving their mini-motorhome from Florida to Alaska and back again.
When his children were younger he took the family to see Mt. Rushmore and to Canada to see Niagra Falls, all the while pulling his 19' Prowler Camper. These were some of the best times Francis shared with his family.
Francis is survied by four children:
Daughter: Christine Mittelstaedt – Plover, WI (DH-Philip)
Son: Patrick Kerwood – Pinellas Park, FL (Wife - Beth)
Daughter: Tina Rodocker – Pinellas Park, FL (Husband - Pernell)
Son: Michael Kerwood – Yellville, Ak, (Wife – Leslie)
Seventeen Grandchildren: Sarah, Cho Hee, Phillip, Carlye, Kelly, Stephen, Rachael, Kimberly, Timothy, Jason, Joseph, Holly-Angel, Joshua, Benjamin, Samuel, Micah, Katrina,.
Eighteen Great Grandchildren and one on the way.
Francis Served in The United States Marine Corp 1st Division from January 9, 1942 until he was honorably discharged as a PFC January 15, 1946. He served as both a rifleman 745 and a barber. In 2011 He received his Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the war. One of his most proud and humbling moments was the ceremony held in Tampa Florida where most of his family were able to attend.
