Fabian Sawyers Lothian's Obituary
Fabian Sawyers Lothian, 94, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL and Wellesley, MA went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday November 15, 2022.
He was born in Palma Soriano, Cuba then moved with his parents to Jamaica, West Indies. Fabian started his career as a government worker with the Poor Relief Department in Jamaica. He then moved his young family to Chicago, IL then to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico where he was a plant manager for an electronics company. In 1973 he moved with his family to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and eventually settled in St. Petersburg where he would work as a broadcaster for Keswick Radio - WKES & WGNB - and serve with his wife Esmine A. Lothian at D&D Missionary Homes.
Fabian is also remembered for his good works in the community and as the founder of Operation Assistance Jamaica, which provided academic scholarships and internship opportunities for hundreds of students in need of financial aid.
He was a member and Sunday School teacher at McKee Lake Alliance Church and along with Esmine ran their junior church program.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Esmine (nee Blake)
Lothian, and his daughter Ruth (nee Lothian) Smith. He is survived by his son Daniel Lothian and his wife Cynthia of Wellesley, MA, his son-in-law Sylvester Smith, and 4 grandchildren Stephenson and Stewart Smith (Charity), Blake and Abby Lothian and 2 great-grandchildren, Emmit and Eden Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 21st at Grace Gospel Chapel, 2262 5th. Avenue North St. Petersburg, FL.
