F. George Douglas' Obituary
Francis George Douglas was born March 10, 1924 in Long Island, New York to William Douglas and Ruth Meskel Douglas. He married Dorothy Zurawski on December 30, 1944. Together they had a daughter Patricia Ann Douglas Young. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He then went to work for United Engineers and handled payroll for many large construction companies to include Kennedy Space Center, Seabrook Nuclear Plant and Raytheon. He called many places home such as New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Georgia and many Florida cities. Upon retirement, they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida to their home on the lake. He enjoyed many hobbies to include traveling and RVing, antiquing, finishing crossword puzzles, celebrating his Scottish heritage and hosting cookouts on the grill he built by hand. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading books, watching World War II movies and was an occasional fisherman. His travel took him throughout the world and he enjoyed sightseeing and expanding his vast knowledge of history. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy, his daughter Patricia Young and her companion Phil Vacca, former son-in-law and friend, Richard Young, as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dogs Archie and Brucie.
