Evelyn B Hoover's Obituary
Evelyn B Hoover,94, passed away on March 8, 2018. She was born on Easter, April 1st 1923 in East St Louis, Illinois, lived in Detroit Michigan for a number of years and moved to St Petersburg in 1945 with her family. She married a St Petersburg native, Arthur Allen Hoover in 1947. Evelyn worked for Florida Power and was a member of the Junior Womens Club and of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, loved politics and was a history buff. A great conversationalist, with a sharp sense of humor she could talk intelligently on many many subjects and across the generations. She also loved to call herself a “relic from World War II”. Like many of the “Greatest Generation” she was proud to be part of that group and she often spoke of working in a war plant and of the sacrifices and great achievements her generation made. She was fiercely independent even after her husbands death til her own passing. She amazed everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lula Bogard and her husband Allen Hoover. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon H Nursey, Orlando and grandchildren, Stephanie Elaine Nursey, Tulsa Ok and John Allen Nursey, Orlando. She is also survived by her dear friend, Linda Buckmaster, who helped Evelyn live a full and independent life til her death. Her family will remember her the most as a loving and caring Mother and Grandmother and friend, with a huge heart, who always put her family first and was so proud of her grandchildren and their achievements. She will always be loved and missed but she has left us all with great memories to carry us through.
