Elizabeth Jane Revlett's Obituary
Elizabeth "Jane" Revlett
Born 3/17/41 in Rumsey, Kentucky, to John B. And Gladys Dame Revlett. Died 6/15/23 at Suncoast Hospice House Mid-Pinellas, of cancer.
Jane co-owned and operated The Hair Place beauty salon in St. Petersburg with her business partner and friend, Andrea Ruddeforth. The salon began in its 9th St. location, moving to its current 62nd Ave. location in 2003. Prior to working in the beauty industry, she worked in the insurance field and as a bartender. She felt that her decision to attend beauty school was one of the best she had ever made, as her colleagues and clients became friends and enriched her life every day.
Jane loved building things, fixing things and redesigning things. She especially enjoyed these activities if they involved power tools. She was a happy decorator - and was not afraid to remove a wall, or change an entire room on a whim. (Usually with great success)
Jane and her husband Doug were runners and participated in many races around Florida. They were so happy to travel across the country 3 times in their SUV, with each trip lasting 3 to 4 weeks. These were some of Jane's fondest memories.
Jane was a feisty and independent woman. Underneath that bravado was a warm, inclusive and loving heart. She couldn't abide bullies and would always stand up for an underdog.
She loved the beach, nature, music, dogs, gardening, Jeopardy, red wine, and a good book. Her dog Baylee sadly passed away several months before Jane, a beloved and spoiled girl.
Jane enjoyed following politics and was sincerely upset that she didn't live long enough to see Trump go to prison.
Jane was a loving stepmother to me and my brothers. She invited me into the home that she and my father had made when I was 19 years old. Can you imagine? So much of who I am is due to her. Thank you, Jane, for all the love.
Special thanks to Jane's beautiful friends who helped her live her best life over the past 5 months. You are all truly remarkable and I am forever in your debt.
Jane is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Douglas Hyde; her sisters, Karen Baumer and Judith Miller; and her brothers, Charles Revlett and CU Revlett.
Jane is survived by her sisters, Linda Parrot of St. Louis, MO, and Connie Ellis (James) of Sacramento, KY. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Susan Gamble (Duane) of Davenport, FL; stepson, Lance Leedham (Lee) of Lake Dallas, TX; and brother-in-law, Donald Hyde of Dayton, OH. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and step-grandchildren.
There will be no services at Jane's request. Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery entrusted with arrangements.
