Mrs. Elizabeth Joanne Hannon's Obituary
Elizabeth Joanne Hannon of St Petersburg, Florida, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Bon Secours Maria Manor, St. Petersburg. She was 87.
Elizabeth was born May 30, 1932 in McWhorter, West Virginia: the beautiful daughter of the late Robert and Frieda McWhorter. Together, with her husband and family, they owned and operated Truck Refrigeration Service & Rental, Inc in Clearwater, Florida where she worked as the office secretary. She was a long-time member of Clearview Baptist Church in St. Petersburg and was also a past member of Moose Lodge #1145 in St. Petersburg.
In addition to working as the office secretary for the company business, Elizabeth operated her own ceramics studio in St Petersburg – Joanne’s Ceramics. She was devoted to her family and was actively involved in their activities. She served as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader when her children were younger. She enjoyed camping, playing Bingo, and was an avid card player – especially “Hand and Foot” and “Rummy”.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George (2001). Elizabeth is survived by her children; Ellen Haddad, Carolyn Galante, Brian Hannon, Janet Hannon, George Hannon, Carol Ann Hannon and David Hannon (Laurie Wesley). She also leaves behind her sister, Sandra VanDeventer and her brother, Ted McWhorter. Elizabeth was the loving grandmother of twelve grandchildren; William, Charlie, Elizabeth, Amber, Stephanie, George, Jr., Christina, Erika, Angie, Melissa, David and Amanda. She is the dear great grandmother of six great grandchildren; Ayden, Leah, Luke, Madilynn, Blake and Charlotte. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be 10am until 11am followed by funeral services at 11am Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St. N, St. Petersburg, Florida 33709. Immediately following the services in the chapel, friends and family will recess to the Garden of Serenity Falls section of Memorial Gardens Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, George.
