Elena Borbon's Obituary
When Elena Borbon came to this country decades ago with her four children by her side she could not have imagined the tremendous legacy she would leave behind. She dedicated her life to supporting her family and her community in every possible way. As a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Elena always made her connections with individuals in her life special and unique. Each one of her family members and friends remembers her with gratitude for the care she put into truly knowing them. That was her way; she put care into everything she did. For most of her life Elena worked with her hands, she sewed in factories by day to support her family and made clothes for her children, and later on for her grandchildren, by night. Once she retired, she began sewing clothes for her great grandchildren, she committed to writing, and she became an active member of a craft circle. Despite age and wear, Elena’s hands were magical and her mind was full of inspiration. From elaborate Halloween costumes, to blankets, to infant-sized bonnets, Elena graciously used her hands to make things that would bring joy to the people she loved. Just as she planted and tended a lush garden in her yard, she tended to her relationships on a daily basis. With precision and care she raised four outstanding children, played an instrumental role in the lives of seven grandchildren, enjoyed sweet moments with five great grandchildren, and changed the lives of so many friends and family members. To say she will be missed is the greatest understatement. She has left an indelible mark in all of our lives. The best we can do to honor her is always carry her big compassionate love in our hearts.
