Eleanor Marie Tierney's Obituary
Sadly, Eleanor Marie Tierney, 83, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2026, at home in the care of Hospice. Eleanor was born on May 2nd, 1942, to George and Eleanor Cason in Baltimore, MD. She attended Palmyra High School in NJ., and, after raising her 3 sons, Eleanor followed her passion for medicine by earning her Nursing degree. She spent much of her life helping and tending to others. She proudly served as a nurse to at-risk youth for over 25 years.
Outside of her professional career as a nurse, Eleanor loved ballroom dancing, swimming, traveling, and taking pictures. While living in the Five Towns community, Eleanor was active in the crocheting and craft clubs, bingo, music and dinner gatherings. She was also a member of Red Hats Society and Beta Sigma Phi. Eleanor was a devoted Catholic and volunteered at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, where she was a member for over 40 years.
She was a proud ‘Granny’ to her 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, for whom she handmade baby blankets and made sure to send handwritten cards on every holiday and birthday.
Eleanor was predeceased by her Navy veteran husband of 19 years, Arthur Tierney, her parents, George and Eleanor Cason. Her brothers Jack Cason (Army Veteran) and David Cason (Air Force & Navy Veteran), and her sister Penny Simpson.
Eleanors memory lives on with her (3) sons Donald Rasdall, Kenneth Rasdall and Mark Rasdall (Army Veteran), along with her (7) Grandchildren Jessica, Catalina, Mark David, Ashley, Brandon, Justin and Sarah, (11) Great-Grandchildren Chloe, Wade, Aubrey, Ezekiel, Emmalee, Madison, Kaylee, River, Arlo, Jace, Niko and Blake,
She also leaves behind sister-in-law Barbara, daughters-in-law Betsy, Tammy (Army Veteran), Lourdes, Theresa, and Stepdaughter Laura. Granddaughters-in-law are Kristin, Kayla, and Alysia. Grandsons-in-law Chad (Air Force Veteran), Jaime, and Zackary (Navy Veteran) along with niece Penny and nephew Bobby (Air Force Veteran) and Barney (deceased).
She also leaves behind countless friends, co-workers and neighbors within the Five Town’s Community where she resided.
