Eleanor Belhumeur's Obituary
A Gentle Life of Kindness: Honoring Nana
November 1st, 1932 – February 12th, 2026
Eleanor Sarah Marie Belhumeur, lovingly called Nana, lived with quiet kindness that put others at ease. Compassionate, honest, resilient, kind, and supportive, she showed these traits in simple daily moments that meant the world to her family. Nana carried the steady New England spirit wherever she went.
Each day, she liked to start the morning with a fresh - brewed cup of hot coffee, a morning prayer, and settle on the front porch with a Nora Roberts novel. Reading, prayers to the Lord, and music were her favorite comforts and she shared them freely, turning ordinary days into calm, welcoming spaces. Books were constant friends; music filled the house while pages turned. Even in quiet pastimes, Nana’s gentle nature brought the family close, reminding us that comfort often lives in ordinary days.
Nana shared fifty-four years with the love of her life, Albany Papa (deceased), who together built a close-knit family. She is survived by her children Cheryl, Jay (daughter in-law Janie), Luane, Dana (daughter in-law Rebecca), Michele, Duane, and Dawna (son in-law Chris). And gladly shared lap space with her loyal dog, Pippin.
She is also remembered with love by grandchildren Jake, Holly M, Monisha, Holly K, Nichole, Bradley, Krystal, Lindsay, Annie, Hailey, Alicia, Hannah, Cody, Anthony, Makayla, Josie, Kristina, Taylor, 18 great – grandchildren, and extended family members.
Nana was preceded in death by her children Rick, Gary, Darryl (Joe), and Lori, and by grand-children Jodi and Chelsea. The family finds comfort in knowing they now rest together.
Nana’s gentle compassion and steady support guided her loved ones through joys and losses alike. Even in difficult times, her honest words and kind gestures offered strength that will continue to encourage those who knew her. She had an unwavering faith in God. No matter how many voices filled the room, Nana listened as if each story was the only one that mattered.
She passed peacefully at home in Safety Harbor, Florida surrounded by her loving family, where she was reunited with Papa in heaven. The family will hold close the memory of her porch mornings, her soothing hands, gentle voice, hugs, and the enduring kindness she shared every day.
We keep her lessons close—love wide, speak true, stay kind. Nana, thank you for every chat and every warm goodbye. Rest easy; your story lives on in us. May she be dancing with the angels at the feet of God for eternity.
