Edward Pentz's Obituary
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Edward “Ed” Leroy Pentz, 81, of New Port Richey, Florida, who passed away peacefully at Suncoast Hospice Care Center North Pinellas on October 15, 2022.
Ed was born on July 18, 1941, in Eden, North Carolina, to Harry and Pauline (Wright) Pentz. The family moved to Florida in 1950. Ed graduated from St. Petersburg High School and then went on to serve in the U.S Navy on USS Strong. After his service in the Navy, he attended St. Petersburg College for engineering and ended up back in North Carolina as he made a career as a tool and die engineer for precision tools at Amp, Inc., where he retired from and held several patents. After retirement, he moved back to Florida in 1998 and served as Vice President and consultant for Ezell Precision.
Ed enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful pieces throughout the years. His granddaughters even helped design some unique items which he successfully made and sold from his woodworking shop that he ran out of his garage, while his wife Jan was always nearby supporting him.
Ed was married to Jan, the love of his life, for 53 years. Jan passed away on October 16, 2022, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center, just 32 short hours after Ed’s passing. Their wish was to be together forever. Ed was dearly loved by his entire family. He loved to joke around and always had a smile on his face.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Anissa Harris; his stepdaughter, Rhonda Jones Wolfe (Eric); his twin granddaughters, Amanda and Brittany Harris; his grandson, Josh Burnette; his great granddaughter, Sophie Burnette; his sister Anita Davis (Donald); his brother-in-law Charles Overby (Doris); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Pauline Pentz; his cousin Jack Wright; and his sister-in-law, Joan Overby Wright.
A heartfelt thank you to the family, friends and neighbors for their love and support to both Ed and Jan. A special thank you to Mark, Paola and Javi for their care and compassion during these difficult times. The family would also like to thank the amazing team at Suncoast Hospice Care Center North Pinellas, with a special recognition to Kelly and Catherine.
A private Celebration of Life and Love will be held at a future date. Memorial donations in honor of Ed may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, Florida 33760 or by visiting their website at https://suncoasthospicefoundation.org .
