Mrs. Edra Dayton Grogan Aschendorf's Obituary
Aschendorf, Edra Dayton Grogan, died Monday, Nov. 16, at age 92. She was a resident of the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, IN. She previously resided in St. Petersburg, FL. She was born in Albany, NY on Aug. 16, 1917 to Walter and Elizabeth (Murtaugh) Dayton. She worked for Muhlfelder's Department Store, Don Allen Chevrolet Car Dealership and then the State of New York as one of their initial fingerprint technician and then in the Department of Transportation. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a long time member of the Albany County Women's Republican Club, active in St. Vincent DePaul Church and a member of the school PTA. She retired in 1972 and moved to Florida, where she married Jules Aschendorf, a retired transit policeman from Brooklyn, NY, in 1975. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and her brother. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Grogan (Jewelia Cameroon) of Hollywood, MD; her son, Ken Grogan (Ruth Freese) of Franklin, In; her grandson, James "Woody" Dayton Grogan of Franklin, IN and several nieces and nephews. Edra, was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh, IN and St. Rose Catholic Church in Franklin, IN. Her interests were painting, fishing and bingo. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, FL. The family will receive friends Friday, Nov.20, from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
