Edna Bernadette LoBianco's Obituary
LoBianco, Edna Bernadette, died at home, surrounded by her family, on November 7, 2013. Born on May 26th, 1917 in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of Alma Valequette and Louis DaSylva. In 1925, when she was seven years old, she, her parents, four brothers and a sister immigrated to the United States. All have pre-deceased her. The family settled in Elizabeth New Jersey where Edna graduated from St. Catherine's High School. After High School she worked for the American Foundry Company and met and married her beloved husband, of 72 years, John A. LoBianco. Upon her husband's return from active duty in the Pacific in World War II. Edna and John moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where they raised their family. Edna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved sewing and gifted many expectant mother with her hand made baby quilts. She was a wonderful gardener. Up to a month before her death she could be found potting plants and tending to her African Violets. Edna was a talented cook and homemaker. She never forgot a birthday or special event and aways baked cakes for family celebrations. She found the best in everyone, was generous with praise and encouragement and unfailing in her love for her "sweetheart", John, and her family and friends. Edna was one of the original members of the Cathedral of St. Jude, and volunteered at St. Jude's School. Moved by a friend's courageous battle with cancer, she volunteered for the American Cancer Society. There she coordinated the first transportation committee so that patients without the means to travel could receive treatment. She received an award for her efforts and her chapter received national recognition. Edna is deeply missed, loved and survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, John A. LoBianco, Sr., four children, John LoBianco, Jr., (Jack), his wife Robin, Kenneth A. LoBianco, his wife Patricia, James J. LoBianco, his wife, Karen, and Joan Walker, and her husband, David Seth; 11 grandchildren: John A. LoBianco, III, Rachel LoBianco, Sean LoBianco, Kenneth LoBianco, Christina Mullin, Amy Sandord, Christine Wallace, James E. LoBianco, Stacy Walker, Jason Walker and Alexandra Walker and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, from 6-8pm, with a prayer service at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30am, Tuesday, November 12 at the Cathedral of St. Jude with a burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the wonderful care givers and medical professionals who provided car and comfort during Edna's last days.
